Sometimes industry rivals, disgruntled employees, unions, unhappy consumers and workplace accidents can trigger off a communication crisis resulting in bad publicity and negativity. Hearsay may be sensationalised with resulting damaging postings on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube, etc. The organisation and its spoke persons must know how to handle such situation when responding to the media.
